Willy Yu

Dr. Willy Yu is currently running a consultation firm for overseas security protection. His main areas of expertise include American Studies, US-China relations, contemporary China foreign relations, International public security, and overseas security protection.
He received his PhD in International Politics from Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Master of International Politics from School of International Studies, Peking University, and Bachelor of Law from Department of International Politics, Fudan University.
He was previously Associate Professor in the School of International Studies, Peking University, also served as the Deputy Director of the Institute for China-US People-to-people Exchanges. Before that, he worked as a Research Associate and Deputy Director of Foreign Relations Studies in the Institute of American Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. He was a Visiting Fellow of Kettering Foundation in Dayton Ohio, USA.
Dr. Yu was regarded as one of the leading Chinese scholars of International Relations. He published widely in the area of China-US relations, including monographs, co-authored books, dozens of academic and consulting papers, as well as hundreds of columnist articles.
Most recently, he shifted to the practice of overseas security protection, while keeping his research interests in areas of private security company (PSC) and International Public Security. He participated in the drafting of Chinese MOC’s Guides to the Overseas Chinese Enterprise and Personal Security (2017) and other official files, as well as several research papers in this area.
