Natasha Matloob

Research assistant

Natasha Matloob is a researcher and journalist specialising in media, policy, and security studies, with a particular focus on South Asian security, counterterrorism, and human rights. She is currently a Research Assistant at the Oxford Global Society, where she contributes to interdisciplinary research projects and produces analytical content on regional and cultural issues.

Alongside her role at OXGS, Matloob has worked with several research, policy, and media institutions. She has been affiliated with the Institute of Policy Studies (Islamabad), contributing to policy-oriented research and analysis, and served as Assistant Editor at South Asia Times, where she oversaw editorial coordination, fact-checking, and content development. She has also worked as a Policy Researcher and Analyst at Climate Forward Pakistan and as a Research Assistant at the Research Institute for Languages and Cultures of Asia (RILCA), Thailand, contributing to comparative research on regional cooperation and intercultural dynamics.

Matloob has published academic and policy-oriented research on hybrid warfare,
Pakistan–Afghanistan relations, and media-led accountability, and regularly contributes to leading national and international platforms, including The Diplomat, The Friday Times, Stimson Centre’s South Asian Voices, and the Centre for Strategic and Contemporary Research.

She is currently pursuing an MPhil in Strategic Studies at the National Defence University, Islamabad, and holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the same institution. Her academic training includes global terrorism studies, strategic studies, diplomacy, and human rights, complemented by leadership training through the Aspire Leaders Program at Harvard Business School.
